Tokyo Mew Mew is the popular manga/anime created by Mia Ikumi and Reiko Yoshida, about five girls whose DNA is merged with that of endangered species.

Ichigo Momomiya is the main character of Tokyo Mew Mew, also known as Mew Ichigo, and is leader of the mew mews, as they fight the aliens to save Earth. Ryou Shirogane is a 15-year old scientist who had an accident with an experiment, causing the girls to be merged with the endangered species DNA.

Ichigo and Ryou are, sadly, not the official couple in Tokyo Mew Mew. But many fans have complained and deeply wished for this couple to end up together. They have a type of love-hate relationship, where they argue most of the type, but have feelings for each other hidden within.

It is well known that, though he never comes to admit it, Ryou is deeply in love with Ichigo, for he finds a strange unexplainable liking to her. Ichigo, sometimes, receives strange feelings around Ryou, but chooses to ignore them, therefore nothing else happens between them, leaving the readers and watchers of Tokyo Mew Mew in deep disappointment.
